Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Performs Walking Ritual on the Morning of Ashura

On the morning of Muharram 10^th, marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) on the Day of Ashura, the Grand Shia Jurist Ayatollah Sayed Sadiq Shirazi walks barefooted to express his condolences on this mournful occasion. His eminence repeats this ritual each year on the Day of Ashura, after taking part in the memorials of the master of martyrs, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) at the house of his son, Sayed Jaafar Shirazi.

It is worth noting that the Grand Jurist’s House welcomes crowds of mourners and Shia believers who commemorate the martyrdom of their master, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) on the fateful Day of Ashura. These memorials will continue until the 13^th of the month of Muharram 1441 AH.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful (1)

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds (2)

The Beneficent, the Merciful (3)

Master of the Day of Judgment (4)

Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help (5)

Keep us on the right path (6)

The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray (7)

Chapter Al-Ikhlas.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful (1)

Say: He, Allah, is One (2)

Allah is He on Whom all depend (3)

He begets not, nor is He begotten (4)

And none is like Him (5)
