Human Rights Activist Meets Grand Jurist Ayatollah Shirazi

On December 4, 2019, a famous Iraqi personality and human rights activist, Dr. Saheb Hakim met with the Grand Shia Jurist Ayatollah Shirazi and offered a report of his activities in Iraq to the Grand Jurist. In this meeting, the Grand Ayatollah mentioned, “One of the things that I always highlight in my meetings with the westerners, is that we have a great role model like Imam Ali (peace be upon him) who ruled over half the civilized world for nearly five years. His just and fair rule spread to the entire middle east and to the heart of Europe and Africa and as history testifies, there were no cases of political imprisonment or execution, and no one struggled with poverty their entire lives.”

His eminence then said:

“Moreover, Imam Ali never prevented any public protest. In fact, he even respected public demands and considered them in his policies. Nowadays, people need to take special authorizations from the government that controls the timing and the nature of protests. Imam Ali (peace be upon him) never allowed his administration and governors not interfere with the businesses. They only had the responsibility to supervise the procedures, not engage in them. In his entire reign, Imam Ali never sold any piece of land to people, because the holy Prophet had said, “The land only belongs to God and one who works it.” Based on these words, people can own any piece of land that they work on.”

The Grand Jurist then stated:

“In 2003, in my meeting with Iraqi officials, I told them that though Imam Ali is not among us now, but his policies and methods are. I also asked them to adhere to the policies of the holy Imam and let the world know of this great Islamic personality. Today, we have miserably failed to display the gems that we have in our faith to the world and thus, we need to take action.”
