Al-Furat Center Discusses Obstacles to Political Reformation in Iraq

Al-Furat Center for Strategic Studies held a panel discussion on the obstacles to the political reformations in Iraq in the holy city of Karbala. This conference hosted groups of researchers, academics, and legal experts. In this conference, Dr. Hussein Sarhan, a researcher at Al-Furat Center and the head of Political Studies Department in Karbala University explained about the nature of change and said: “If we view political change from a social framework, we can appreciate the change from autocracy to democracy. Now if we can make these changes happen in a peaceful manner, we can call them reformations.” Sheikh Morteza Maash, the director of Annaba Institute also talked about the features of good and bad political constructs and emphasized the need to pursue incremental and reformative changes in societies.”
