Adam Center Holds Conference to Discuss Social Progress in Iraq

Adam Center for Defending Rights and Freedoms held a conference in holy Karbala to discuss the role of the Iraqi government, in boosting the social progress of the country. Dr. Ala Ibrahim Al-Husseini, a law professor at Karbala University and Sheikh Morteza Maash, the head of Al-Naba council of directors were among the speakers at this conference. In his turn at the podium, Dr. Husseini said: “The nationwide urge for social change has been consistent for many years. The public protests from 2011 until 2015 were based on this national urge. All these changes in the social construct of our community have required experts and sociologists to reevaluate their understanding of the current situation.” Furthermore, Sheikh Morteza Maash, blamed the government’s failure to understand public demands as the one of the main reasons for the crises in Iraq. He also said: “The political system in our country needs to align itself with the social construct and their demands. We cannot expect the nation to blindly follow the orders of the political leaders and succumb to their unquestionable power.”
