Nonviolence Incorporation Protests Detainment of Journalists in Algeria

Following the detainment of some journalists and activists in Algeria, Nonviolence Incorporation, dependent on Imam Shirazi World Foundation published a statement that reads as follows:

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Almighty God says in the Quran: “and when you judge between people you judge with justice.” [4:58]

Several anti-regime Algerian journalists and political activists were detained by government forces. The illegal arrest of these peaceful protestors, is a blatant violation of human rights and free speech, the very principles that the current Algerian government claims to safeguard.

According to information received from multiple sources, the current autocratic Algerian regime which was toppled by public protests, consistently creates obstacles to the peaceful transition of power to a new democratic state. These obstacles have caused a wave of despair to overshadow the entire Algerian nation.

In the light of these incidents, Nonviolence Incorporation requests the Algerian authorities to release all journalists and prisoners of conscience, who are being held in detention because of their political stances.

This organization expects the Algerian nation to see the light of democracy and freedom, after decades of an authoritarian regime. However, for this dream to take place, the current Algerian government needs to prove its competence to combat corruption and oppression in this country.
