Imam Shirazi World Foundation issued a message on the occasion of the 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the anniversary of the martyrdom of the leader of the 1920 uprising against the British occupiers, the Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Mirza Mohammad Taqi Shirazi. This message reads as follows:

Muslim nations, especially the nation of Iraq, commemorate the thirteenth day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, which marks the anniversary of the martyrdom of the great authority, the late Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Mirza Mohammad Taqi Shirazi, a figure who is considered one of the most prominent men and scholars of modern history and the leader of the revolution of 1920 against the British invaders in Iraq. Imam Shirazi World Foundation commemorates this heartbreaking and painful occasion, and presents some brilliant and unexcavated angles from the life of this great scholar, leader and revolutionary figure, in his memorable fight against the western invaders. Occupation and aggression have inflicted such a great pain for most of the Muslim nations, and Western policies in taking a stand in supporting tyrants, dictators, rebels and tyrants through completely hidden and overt actions. What should not be neglected is the violation of human rights committed by groups and factions that govern the destiny of Muslim nations. The late Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Mirza Mohammad Taqi Shirazi had correctly known and understood the sinister plans of the colonialists against the Muslim nations and their real motive in their military, intellectual and cultural invasions. Hence, the leadership of the Iraqi Muslim nation in the nationwide uprising managed to expel the British colonialists from Iraq without letting the occupation of the Ottoman in Iraq to repeat.

From the very beginning, the leader of the Iraqi public uprising recognized the dangers of the events that had befallen the Islamic Ummah. Therefore, he fought against it with bravery, courage and authority, and of course he sacrificed his life for the liberation of the Muslim nation of Iraq, and he was martyred by one of the mercenaries of the British colonial government with a vengeful poison. Imam Shirazi World Foundation invites all Muslim nations and all members of different ethnic groups to see into the life and policies of the late Mirza Mohammad Taqi Shirazi, particularly his way of standing up to the British colonialists, whose main goal was to expand their grasp over the Muslim world. Therefore, Imam Shirazi World Foundation emphasizes that Muslim nations should consider the experience of their predecessors, thinkers, rulers and martyrs, and take a stand in the face of crises and challenges that have plagued the Muslim nations.

In this sense, the instructive biography of the martyr Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Mirza Mohammad Taqi Shirazi has an influential role that should be considered. At the end of its message, this foundation calls on the Iraqi people to be in the line with the orders of the Shia Islamic leadership, in order to push back and neutralize the colonial policies that try to keep the Iraqi people in ignorance.
