PR Office of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Requests Iraqi Authorities to Reopen Borders for All Pilgrims

Aref Nasrallah, the Public Relations Manager of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi, called on the Iraqi government to reopen borders and airports to pilgrims of Imam Husayn (peace and blessings of God be upon him) to revive the glorious Arbaeen pilgrimage in 2020. “A large number of pilgrims from different countries intend to come to Karbala to participate in the Arbaeen pilgrimage and are waiting for us to take a serious stance,” said Mr. Nasrullah further into this meeting. Nasrallah also added: “The people of Karbala and all the lovers of Imam Husayn (peace be upon him) are known for their chivalry, generosity in hospitality and commitment to providing services to the pilgrims of the holy shrines.” Today, we are all obliged to take a serious stance for Imam Husayn (PBUH) and ask the government officials to reopen the borders and let the pilgrims in. The Manager of the Public Relations Office of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi then stated: “The spread of Covid-19 has proved to be no longer a hindrance to Husayni rituals, as on the Day of Ashura we saw that thousands of people gathered in holy Karbala and held Husayni rites. The confessions made by the Iraqi officials indicating that no positive cases of Covid-19 were recorded among the mourners of Imam Husayn (PBUH). We are not afraid and we will not retreat from our position towards the movement of Imam Husayn (PBUH) and we will revive Arbaeen as in previous years.
