The Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Sends His Condolences Over the Passing of the Grand Ayatollah Sayed Taqi Qommi

October 30, 2016

Following the sad departure of the Grand Ayatollah Sayid Taqi Tabatabei Qommi, may he rest in peace, the Grand Jurist Ayatollah Shirazi sent a message and expressed his condolences. Parts of this condolence message reads the following:

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

We belong to God, and to Him we shall return.

The demise of the Islamic Jurist, Grand Ayatollah Haji Sayid Taqi Tabatabei Qommi, may God elevate his ranks, was a sad blow to Islam and the sacred Islamic Seminaries.

His noble father, the late Grand Ayatollah Sayid Hussaini Qommi was one of the first people who rose to protect the Islamic values such as hijab and the legacies of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, in Iran; while any resistance against the Iranian ruling regime was answered with execution and torture. This great Islamic jurist and his family were finally exiled due to their firm stances.
After that disturbed age, his noble father made a historic return to Iran and revived the Islamic values of hijab and the ceremonials of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him. The return of this great scholar, along with many other scholars, including my father brought back freedom to the Iranians. I, personally, offer my most heartfelt condolences for the passing of this great scholar to our Awaited Savior (Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance), the sacred Islamic Seminaries, and the respectful family of this great scholar. I pray to God to have this great man by the side of his noble ancestors, the Holy Prophet of Islam and his Pure Household.

Sayid Sadiq Shirazi, Holy City of Qum, Republic of Iran, 25th of Muharram, 1437/ October 27, 2016
