Commemorations of the Martyrdom of Imam Sadiq (PBUH) in Iraq

On the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) the leader of the Shia school of thought, many Islamic centers and offices affiliated with his eminence, Grand Ayatollah Sayed Sadiq Shirazi held commemorative ceremonies in Iraq.

On this occasion, the Meeting House of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi in holy Karbala hosted large numbers of religious and cultural figures, as well as the general public, in a ceremony to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Sadiq (PBUH). Sheikh Mazen Altamemi was the main speaker of this ceremony.

Rasul Adham Cultural and Charity Institute in holy Kadhimiya also held its annual ceremony on this occasion. This ceremony was held on Sunday, 24th of the month of Shawwal, and it hosted groups of believers and servants of the AhlulBayt (peace be upon them). Eulogies were recited in honor of the holy Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH).

AhlulBayt Islamic Thought Center, affiliated with the Grand Jurist Ayatollah Shirazi in Baghdad also held a ceremony at the shrine of Hazrat Salman and commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH). Sheikh Salah Allami was the keynote speaker of this event, which was organized by a group of young activists and in cooperation with Ale Yaseen association.

The female department of AhlulBayt Islamic Thought Center in Baghdad also held a similar ceremony on this day. Coinciding with the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH) this center welcomed a group of female activists who listened to a lecture on the life and legacies of the holy Imam Sadiq (PBUH) by Ms. Al-Ameri.

And finally, Um al-Banin Institute in Mayson province of Iraq organized a religious gathering to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Sadiq (PBUH) at the house of a fellow believer. It is worth noting that this ceremony was held in compliance to the orders of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi, who encourages believers to host religious ceremonies at their homes.
