Iraqi Parliament Office Marks 99th Anniversary of 1920 Uprising

The Iraqi parliament Office held a seminar in holy Karbala to mark the 99th anniversary of the glorious 1920 revolution of the Iraqi nation against the British invaders. The seminar hosted some leaders of the revolution, as well as tribal chiefs, legal experts and civil rights activists. A statement released by this seminar called on the central government to designate the anniversary of this glorious revolution as a national day.

In 1920, and following the invasion of Iraq by the British empire, the Iraqi nation, under the leadership of the late Mirza Mohammad Taqi Shirazi stood up to the invaders and fought them back in an uneven battle.
