Freemuslim Criticizes Sri Lankan Government for Deporting Muslim Immigrants
On July 09, 2019
Freemuslim Association criticized the mass deportation of Muslim immigrants by the Sri Lankan government in a statement. Here come parts of this statement:
“Freemuslim strongly condemns the deportation of Muslim immigrants by the Sri Lankan government and strictly warns of the consequences of this action. Multiple reports from verified sources have indicated that the Sri Lankan government plans to deport as many as 1200 Muslim immigrants, following the suspicious attacks against some churches in this country.
The deportation of Muslims in Sri Lanka is obviously a violation of human rights, which puts the lives of these immigrants and refugees in jeopardy. Most of these immigrants were forced to leave behind their homes in Pakistan and Afghanistan and travel to Sri Lanka.
Freemuslim association requests the Sri Lankan government to reconsider their decision to deport these immigrants due to the life-threatening conditions they could face. Furthermore, Freemuslim calls on the international community to help out the Sri Lankan government to manage the security and immigration crises in this country.”
