Shia Islamic Law Officially Recognized by National Assembly of Kuwait

The national assembly of Kuwait passed a lawsuit regarding the recognition of Shia Islamic law by the country’s judiciary system with a great majority of 48 votes in favor and 8 opposing votes. This lawsuit was presented to the parliament 15 years ago by Dr. Saleh Ashour along with several other Shia Kuwaiti parliamentarians. According to this law, the Kuwaiti judiciary system practices Shia Islamic law for Shia Muslims in this country.

Shia Muslims shape up thirty-five percent of the population of Kuwait.
